The Trout Unlimited Costa 5 Rivers program is a network of 140 conservation-oriented college angling clubs across the country. 5 Rivers seeks to mobilize the next generation of environmental stewards by creating an on-campus community of anglers through in-person events and digital initiatives such as podcasts, e-magazines, and Instagram contests.
The AFFTA Fisheries Fund provided a $8,050 grant in support of the program in 2016. Today, thanks to support from corporate, government, and industry partners such as AFFTA, students can engage with each other at both regional rendezvous meet-ups and national virtual events to help bolster learning opportunities on campuses and create a nationwide vibe within the program.
Debuting in 2020, the TU Costa 5 Rivers Community Fund helps campuses complete conservation projects in their home waters. Students apply via a grant application and get valuable skills in grant writing, grant management, and project planning.
